AREAS OF PRACTICE.

ESTATE PLANNING AND PROBATE.

We assist individuals and families with the planning and establishment of Last Will and Testaments (wills), testamentary trusts, revocable and irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, advanced health care directives, and funeral directives. We also work with surviving family members and friends in probating the estate of a deceased loved one. Guardian ad Litem services are also offered for probate estates to protect the interests of heirs, beneficiaries, or other parties who may be unable to advocate for themselves.

REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS.

We assist clients with all phases of the purchase and sale of various types of real estate, including residential homes, vacation cottages, vacant real estate and commercial businesses. From the Offer to Purchase, to securing Title Insurance, to the preparation and drafting of a Warranty Deed and Electronic Transfer Return and all the way through closing, a lawyer is with you every step of the transaction. We also assist clients with the negotiating, drafting and review of commercial and residential leases. Other real estate matters we regularly handle include driveway and access easements, shared well agreements, evictions, encroaching septic easements, and first rights of refusal. We also draft various conveyance documents, including Quit Claim Deeds, Personal Representative Deeds, Guardian’s Deeds, and Land Contracts.

ELDER LAW and MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PLANNING.

We are passionate about helping people who are concerned about protecting their home and lifetime of savings should they need long-term care (“LTC”) at a nursing home, assisted living facility, or community-based residential facility.  Preserving your assets can often be accomplished through advanced planning, by taking preemptive measures should you need LTC in the future.  Similarly, in a crisis we can assist with maximizing the preservation of your assets if you or a loved one recently have been admitted to a LTC facility.  As elder law advocates, we are also committed to assisting families with the qualification and application for Medicaid/Medical Assistance, and our attorneys are members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
